Star Coach Conversions in the Fleet
A star conversion turns the back of a coach into a private room instead of more bunks. This page explains what that changes, who it suits, and which coaches in the Knights Coaches fleet are built for it.
What a star conversion is
On a standard entertainer coach the rear is bunks and a lounge shared by everyone aboard. A star conversion uses that rear space differently, as a private room for one person or a small party, separate from the crew area forward of it.
The trade is direct. Space used for a private room is space not used for shared sleeping and shared living, which is why a coach is built one way or the other rather than switching between them mid-tour.
Who it suits
It suits a tour where one person needs to be able to close a door: an artist working between dates, someone who has to take calls while a crew is awake around them, or anyone whose schedule does not match the rest of the bus.
It suits a full crew less well. A band and techs travelling together generally get more from the shared lounge and the full bunk complement than from a private room nobody can use.
Which coaches are built for it
Three coaches in the fleet are built with an optional star conversion at the rear: Wisdom, Brookland and Chief. The remaining eighteen are single slide-out units with twelve bunks throughout.
Because only three units are configured this way, availability matters more here than elsewhere in the fleet. If a star conversion is what your tour needs, say so when you send the routing rather than at the point of booking.
